Your backup needs can change over time. A site that only needs weekly backups today may need daily backups as you publish more content, launch new features, or start making more frequent changes.
You can update your backup schedule without affecting your existing backup history.
Change Your Backup Frequency
To update how often your site is backed up:
Open the website in your Siteligent dashboard.
Go to My Sites → Select a Site → Backups → Backup Settings.
Choose between Hourly, Daily, Weekly and Monthly.
Click Save Settings.
Your new schedule will apply to future automated backups.
Choose a Backup Schedule
Siteligent gives you several backup schedules, so you can choose how often your website should be backed up based on how frequently it changes.
When configuring Backup Settings, you can choose:
Hourly - Useful for websites where important data changes throughout the day, such as stores, membership sites, or frequently updated websites.
Daily - A good choice for most active websites that receive regular content or configuration changes.
Weekly - Suitable for websites that don't change very often.
Monthly - Useful for websites with very infrequent changes where a monthly restore point is sufficient.
Only manual - Turns off scheduled backups while keeping the ability to create backups manually whenever you need one.
Choose the schedule that gives you enough recent restore points without creating backups more frequently than necessary.
Pause Automated Backups
If you temporarily don't want Siteligent to create scheduled backups, you can disable automated backups.
Go to My Sites → Select a Site → Backups.
At the bottom of the Backups page click Disable Backups.
Your existing backups will remain available. Disabling automated backups only stops future scheduled backups.
You can turn automated backups back on whenever you're ready.
Change What Your Backups Include
Your backup configuration can also determine which parts of your website are backed up.
Depending on your requirements, you can choose:
Full Backup - Includes your database and website files.
Database Only - Backs up your WordPress database.
Files Only - Backs up your website files without the database.
For most websites, a Full Backup provides the most complete restore point.
Review Your Settings
After making changes, review your backup settings to make sure the frequency, retention period, and backup type are configured as expected.
Your previous backups are not affected when you change these settings. If you're having problems with a scheduled backup, please contact our support.
