Viewing Backup History

Review backup dates, types, sizes, and statuses to confirm successful backups and find the right restore point when needed.

Written by Rohini

Siteligent keeps a history of the backups created for each website. From the backup history, you can see when a backup was created, what type of backup it was, whether it completed successfully, and whether it was copied to your connected cloud storage.

This makes it easier to confirm that your automated backups are running as expected and find a specific backup when you need to restore your website.

Open Your Backup History

To view the backups for a website:

  1. Open My Sites from the Siteligent dashboard.

  2. Select the website you want to check.

  3. Go to Backups.

Your backup history will show the available backup records for that site.

Understanding Backup Details

Each backup record provides information about the backup.

Date & Time

  • Shows when the backup was created or completed.

  • This can help you confirm that your automated backup schedule is running at the expected times.

Type & Component

Shows whether the backup was created automatically or manually and what was included in the backup.

Depending on the backup, this can include:

  • Full Backup

  • Database Only

  • Files Only

File Size

  • Shows the size of the completed backup archive.

  • The file size can be useful when checking your backup history. If you notice a significant and unexpected change in the size of consecutive backups, it may be worth investigating.

Backup Status

The status indicates where the backup is in the process.

Common statuses include:

  • Completed - The backup finished successfully.

  • In Progress - The backup is currently being created.

  • Failed - The backup could not be completed.

Finding a Backup to Restore

When you need to restore your website, you can use the backup history to find the appropriate restore point.

Before restoring, check the backup's:

  • Date and time

  • Backup type

  • Completion status

  • Description, if one was added

Choose a backup that represents the version of your website you want to recover.
