How Siteligent Works

See how Siteligent connects to your WordPress sites and helps you manage updates, backups, monitoring, security, and client access from one dashboard.

Siteligent gives you one place to manage and monitor your WordPress websites. Instead of logging into each WordPress dashboard separately, you can use Siteligent to handle common maintenance tasks, monitor website health, manage backups, and keep track of important events from a single dashboard.

How Siteligent Connects to Your Website

Siteligent uses the Siteligent Connector plugin to securely communicate with your WordPress website.

After you install and activate the Connector and connect it to your Siteligent account, the Connector acts as the bridge between your website and the Siteligent platform. It allows Siteligent to send authorized commands to your website and retrieve information needed for monitoring and management.

You don't need to share your WordPress administrator password, FTP credentials, or SSH credentials with Siteligent. The connection is established using a secure authentication process between your website and the Siteligent platform.

What Siteligent Handles

Once your website is connected, Siteligent can help you manage several areas of your WordPress site.

  1. Updates: Manage WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates from Siteligent. Before applying an update, Zyra AI can assess the potential risk by analyzing available changelogs and known issues. This can help identify potentially problematic updates, abandoned plugins, or possible compatibility concerns before you apply them.

  2. Safe Updates: For important pages such as landing pages, business-critical pages, or e-commerce checkouts, Safe Updates can help you check whether an update has affected the appearance of your website. Siteligent captures screenshots before and after an update and compares them to identify visual changes. If an update causes a significant visual problem, you can use the available rollback options to return to the previous version.

  3. Backups: Siteligent can create automated backups of your WordPress website, including your files and database. You can schedule backups on a daily or weekly basis and store them in Siteligent Cloud. You can also mirror your backups to supported external storage providers (soon). This gives you an additional copy of your website data outside your WordPress server.

  4. Monitoring & Alerts: Siteligent continuously monitors your website's availability and can detect changes such as downtime or sudden performance issues. When an important event occurs, you can receive notifications through the channels you have configured, including: Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, Email. This means you can stay informed about your websites without constantly checking the Siteligent dashboard.

  5. Client Portals (Coming Soon): If you manage websites for clients, Siteligent also provides white-labeled client portals. You can give clients access to a read-only view of their website's information, including uptime, security status, and completed tasks, while presenting the experience under your own brand.

How the Connector and Siteligent Work Together

The basic flow is: Your WordPress Site → Siteligent Connector → Secure Connection → Siteligent Dashboard

The Connector runs on your WordPress site and handles the website-side operations. Siteligent provides the central dashboard where you can view information and manage your connected websites.

Some resource-intensive processing is handled by Siteligent's cloud infrastructure rather than your WordPress server. This includes tasks such as screenshot processing, visual comparisons, and update-risk analysis.

This approach helps keep the workload on your website focused on serving your visitors while Siteligent handles the heavier processing where possible.

What You Need to Get Started

To connect a WordPress website to Siteligent, you need:

  • A supported WordPress installation

  • The Siteligent Connector plugin installed and activated

  • Access to your WordPress administrator dashboard

  • A Siteligent account

Once your first website is connected, you can configure backups, monitoring, security features, notifications, and other management tools from your Siteligent dashboard.
